Workshop with Municipal Leaders to Kick Off SWIFT Campaign


The  Western Ontario Wardens Caucus (WOWC) and SouthWestern Economic Alliance (SWEA) will welcome Brad Woodside, Mayor of Fredericton and President of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities on Sunday, August 17 at 10:30am at the Theatre of the London Convention Centre. Mayor Woodside will share the success of FREDeFIBRE, a city-owned corporation in Fredericton, New Brunswick, that provides businesses, government and academic institutions with access to high speed / high capacity electronic communications.

Mayor Woodside, along with members of the WOWC SWIFT steering committee will share their vision to connect households, farms, businesses, government offices and educational institutions with fibre-optic connectivity.

What is SWIFT?

SWIFT – South Western Integrated Fibre Technology – is an initiative to build an ultra high-speed fibre optic regional broadband network for everyone in Western Ontario.

“We are very pleased to have Mayor Woodside come and share the story of how FREDeFIBRE has helped Fredericton take advantage of the opportunities of knowledge based economy” says Geoff Hogan, SWIFT staff lead.
