SWIFT Inc. Appoints Geoff Hogan Interim Executive Director

Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology Inc. has named Geoff Hogan Interim Executive Director to lead the SWIFT project for the next 12 months. Mr. Hogan was the project’s Technical Lead and was critical in developing the SWIFT project model.

“It’s a tremendous honour to hold this position and to oversee the early stages of development for this essential piece of infrastructure,” said Hogan. “The SWIFT Network will truly be a game changer for Southwestern Ontario and the Niagara Region and I’m excited to lead it forward.”

SWIFT aims to build a holistic ultra-high speed fibre optic network for Southwestern Ontario and Niagara Region. The network will be funded by through a combination of Federal, Provincial, Municipal and private funding.

“We have full confidence in Geoff’s ability to lift this project off the ground,” said Gerry Marshal, Warden of Simcoe County and Chair of the SWIFT Board. “Geoff has played a key role in SWIFT since day one. His dedication and enthusiasm for digital inclusion is unmatched.”

The SWIFT project is based on the principle that everyone in Southwestern Ontario deserves access to high-speed internet, regardless of the size of their community, their age, education, or where they work. The project was founded by the Western Ontario Wardens’ Caucus.

Mr. Hogan will step down from his position as Director of Information Technologies with Grey County to assume the new role. He has been with Grey County for 12 years.

“The SWIFT project has been close to Geoff’s heart for years. While we are disappointed to see him go, we understand and support his decision,” said Grey County Warden Alan Barfoot. “We thank him for his dedication over the past years and wish him success over the next year.”
